Third, and most provocatively, this might be the moment to rethink smart contract design itself. If an AI can find any logic flaw, then maybe the future of smart contracts is not in being “unhackable” but in being “self-healing”—contracts that can detect an attack and freeze funds autonomously, or even fork themselves. Sounds radical, but we’re already seeing the first kernels of this with EIP-3074 and account abstraction. The agent paradigm forces us to evolve. Innovation without integrity is just volatility. I’ve lived through bear markets where teams cut corners on security. I’ve seen how the promise of decentralization gets diluted when centralized actors hold the keys. This GPT-6 story is a wake-up call. We are not just building financial infrastructure; we are building the trust layer for an AI-augmented world. That trust cannot rest on a single model, no matter how brilliant. If an AI can think for itself, and if that thinking leads to action, then we must ensure that action is aligned with the values we hold dear: transparency, consent, and decentralization.
